If you're getting married during the winter, you don't want shivering and goosebumps to spoil your elegant wedding look. Beautiful bridal cover-ups like capes, shawls, faux fur stoles, boleros and arm covers will stave off the cold and give you a different look for those atmospheric outdoor portraits. So what should you choose? Check out our round-up of the most gorgeousl bridal cover-ups for your winter wedding.

Fur and faux fur styles

If you like the idea of adding a cozy vintage touch to your wedding look, a fur stole could be the way to go. Fur stoles grew in popularity during the early 1900s, recognizable as shawl-like garments wrapped around the shoulders and either tied off in a knot or clasped shut with a delicate brooch. The ethics of the fur trade would sway us towards purchasing faux fur, however if you have an heirloom piece or have stumbled across a vintage gem, you might consider real fur as the more sustainable option.

Bridal coats and jackets

If you don't handle the cold well or you're tying the knot somewhere particularly cold (like this couple below who married on a remote glacier in Tibet!) only a coat a will do. But don't fret, you can still look super chic by choosing a style in a neutral shade and cozy material like wool, cashmere, faux fur or marabou feathers.

Bridal arm covers

If you're prepared to suffer in the name of fashion and don't mind cold shoulders, arm covers could be the perfect choice for hiding those goosebumps. Bridal arm covers were a big trend during New York Bridal Fashion week and add a chic voluminous silhouette to your bridal look. You can find arm covers attached to gowns and separate, or could request to have them tailor made.

Long sleeve wedding dresses

Perhaps you don't want to worry about a separate accessory and adjusting or misplacing it throughout the day... if this sounds like you, a long sleeve wedding dress is the way to go. There is no shortage of stunning long sleeved wedding gowns to provide a little extra warmth, and while light materials like chiffon, silk and lace won't exactly stave off the cold, they will at lease hide the goosebumps (and look incredibly chic too).
