5 Tips on How to Get the Best Confetti Shots at Your Wedding!
One of the best shots at a wedding - the Confetti Shot! The pure joy signifies the beginning of the celebrations now you're officially married! But this moment is fleeting so how do we ensure we get the best shot? Fine Art Curation member Lucy Davenport is on hand today to give us all the advice on making sure we create the best opportunity and don't mess it up!

1. FIND OUT WHAT IS OR ISN'T ALLOWED TO BE THROWN & WHERE
Once you have this information, relay it to your photographer so they are aware. It is something I always ask the church/venue myself before the wedding day if the client or planner hasn’t told me. The last thing I want to do is have the confetti thrown in the wrong place and create work for the venue on your wedding day.
2. GET COORDINATED!
Much like a full group shot, a confetti line up can take some time to co-ordinate. I advise my couples to be out of sight at this point as guests will know that you are waiting and be more willing! Have your groomsmen or bridesmaids on hand to distribute the confetti, its always a good photo opportunity.
3. BE ECO FRIENDLY
The type of confetti used does make a difference in the photographs! Personally I advise against using large rose petals. They are heavy and don’t have much ‘flight’. They also cover a large portion of your face too.
Dried mixed florals smell divine, are easy for the guests to grab a handful of and make incredible photos all whilst being environmentally friendly. For my own wedding, my mum and all of our family friends who were keen gardeners all contributed! It was a really lovely moment.
4. PUT YOUR BEST FACE FORWARD
Don’t shut your eyes or purse your lips. The best photos are always when the couple is embracing the moment! Look up, not down at your feet.
5. SMALL OR LARGE WEDDINGS?
If you are having an intimate wedding during Covid or beyond, there isn’t any reason why you can’t have an epic confetti shot. I would ask the couple to stand still and the guests gather around you. On my count, all throwing the confetti at the same time will create a ‘full’ confetti photograph.
If you have a larger wedding, I always create a tunnel for couples to walk down. It allows everyone the opportunity to throw their confetti as well as multiple shots for me and movement for your videographer if you have one.
