6 Top Minimoon Hotels for a Short Honeymoon
We get asked all the time where our favorite places to stay in the world are for honeymoons and whilst we love to travel and review luxury resorts (great job huh?!), we thought we'd get a little more specific and let you know our fave Minimoon destinations and resorts - perfect for any couple wanting to take a shorter trip straight after their wedding day but perhaps having a longer trip planned for their actual honeymoon. All the places listed below are places we have personally visited and had the best time so we hope you get to try one or two out!
1. LIMEWOOD HOTEL
Traveling to the quaint English countryside for your Minimoon? Lucky you! We had the pleasure of visiting The Lime Wood Hotel very recently and if you missed our epic Instagram Stories that week, then read on to hear all about it.
Even the drive towards the Lime Wood Hotel sets the scene by taking your breath away. Thousands of acres of the New Forest and wild roaming horses and ponies (stop and take some photos!) surround the Lime Wood and this just lets you know you're about to enter a world of slow-moving lifestyle and relaxation. With a 5* spa facility and outdoor pool, grab a cocktail (or something a little more healthy if you want - they have a great healthy restaurant at the spa) and head to the rooftop to breathe in the fresh air. You can stay in the main house and feel like you're staying at a friend's country house, or indulge in one of their newly renovated Pavilion homes towards the back of the property with your own 2 story abode with private garden backing onto the forest and little kitchen/pantry area that comes fully stocked with British gins and organic snacks. There is no detail they haven't thought of at the Lime Wood for their guests (they even have the Roberts radios playing for you when you enter your rooms!) and we know you'll love this home away from home style minimoon destination...
2. THOMPSON - NASHVILLE
On a recent trip to Nashville, we had the pleasure of experiencing one of our favorite hotels ever: the Thompson Nashville located downtown Nashville in the Gulch neighborhood.
If you've ever had the fortune of staying at a Thompson Hotel, you'll know they're famous for their uber-cool vibes. When we first walked in, we mentally planned for a trip back down to the lobby for a coffee at Killebrew, the resident coffee shop with all the midcentury modern feels and subway tiles one could ever dream of.
The lobby itself was beautiful and the staff was unbelievably attentive. For design aficiandos everywhere, Thompson Nashville is a must-see. Oh, not to mention their beautiful restaurant Marsh House and their rooftop bar, L.A. Jackson (whatever you do, GET THE FROZE!).
We stayed in the Thompson Suite with rooftop views of Nashville, a beautiful sitting area and luxe full bathroom. If we had to pick our top three things about the room it would be:
1. The incredible midcentury modern decor
2. The black clawfoot tub (with bath salts included!)
3. And the contemporary bar area
This suite was absolutely gorgeous, comfortable, and stylish. We loved the Gulch neighborhood so much, walked around, ate delicious food, and didn't want to wake up and leave our room.
3. CARNEROS INN - NAPA
Possibly one of Editor Sara's favorite places to stay (she honeymooned here herself!), the Carneros Inn Resort is the perfect balance of farmhouse luxury within the rolling hills of Napa Valley.
The Carneros Resort is synonymous with great food and drink and has everything on offer thanks to the main FARM restaurant (perfect for dinner), Boon Fly Cafe (great for lunch or brunch), and the sweet little Market full of fresh produce (grab some fresh bread, coffee and pastries for a breakfast on your own private porch). The individual cottages you stay in are the cutest, most luxury 'cabins' we've ever stayed in. Designed to make you feel at home, you can relax in your rocking chair with a glass of Napa's finest, or freshen up in the outdoor shower and tub. Al fresco washing anyone? It's better than you think!
4. CHEWTON GLEN - TREEHOUSES
If you want to hide yourselves away after the craziness of your wedding and truly want to relax, what better way than surrounding yourself in the English countryside on the south coast, and stay in one of these luxury Treehouses created by the Chewton Glen.
Discover their luxury treehouse suites and either stay in your treehouse home the whole time (it's surprisingly easy to do thanks to the little hatch where they deliver your food every day!) or wander round the forest that surrounds you or play croquet on the main lawn. Quintessentially English, this privately owned luxury country house hotel and spa is only 2 hours from London if you're flying in. You've got your own hot tub on the veranda to enjoy the views of the forest and you're hidden away from the neighbors too for total exclusivity. There's a main bedroom on the lower floor (plus full kitchen and living area) and an upstairs bedroom too if needed. Their bathrooms are insta-worthy complete with wet room vibes and freestanding tub that you can soak into and watch tv (or daydream into the forest that surrounds you). Possibly one of the most luxurious vacations we've had!
5. SAINT JAMES PARIS - FRANCE
Thinking of heading to the most romantic city in the world for your minimoon? Don't blame you. If you're looking for the ultimate in hotel stays while you pound the streets seeing Monet at the Musée de l'Orangerie, the Eiffel Tower, and the Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum, then base yourself at the vibrant Saint James Paris.
A mix of authenticity, refined atmosphere, and harmony of shimmering colors, the Saint James Paris is a 5* chateau right in the centre of a busy city. You would never know you were in one of the busiest cities in the world once you've checked into your suite. Like staying in a celebrity's private home, you're treated like Kings and Queens and we recommend you spend some time to relax here in between exploring the city. It's a short walk from the nearest Metro station and walking distance from Trocadero for the perfect Eiffel Tower selfie...
6. POST RANCH INN - BIG SUR - CALIFORNIA
Saving the minimoon destination with the best view for last, the Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur is truly the epitome of the wow factor.
Overlooking the Pacific ocean, this cliff top location is epic to say the least. When we visited, the clouds rolled in but you're so high you can see above them. Truly a bucket list view if you're minimooning in California. With private pools overlooking the ocean or luxury treehouses on offer, you can choose what you want your backdrop to be. Surrounded by the famous Redwoods, head out to visit nature or simply relax at the couple's spa. You might not want to come home - we didn't...
