Natural bridal portraits

  1. Your photographer will likely have a few tricks up their sleeve to put you at ease, such as asking you to do something with your hands. This might be putting in an earring, applying lipstick or admiring your bouquet, anything that doesn't require you to look at the camera and helps you feel less awkward.
  2. Location is key too. A quiet room is important so you don't feel self-conscious in front of people, and you'll ideally be positioned by a large window for natural lighting and skin tone.
  3. Talk! Choose a photographer you feel a rapport with so you're comfortable chatting with them, or talk to your bridesmaids, mum or other loved ones to capture natural emotion, smiles and laughter.

Natural couple shots

  1. Get moving. Walk, run, dance... moving in whatever way feels natural helps to put you more at ease than standing still in front of the camera. It can also give a lovely swish to your dress and veil.
  2. Whisper sweet nothings. A simple trick to invite intimacy is to whisper in one another's ears, it's a great for an unexpected giggle!
  3. Take a quiet moment. Find somewhere to sit quietly or take a peaceful wander around the grounds of your venue, you'll end up chatting and smiling each other in a beautifully natural way.
