This beautiful boho engagement session is equal parts whimsical and romantic. The beautiful Kaitlin of lovely fashion blog Blonde Expeditions and her love, Arman, headed out to Jardin De Buis in New Jersey for a day filled with fun. We immediately fell in love with the stunning floral crown by Wild Floral Design, as photographed by Sophie Kawalek (can we have one of those please?!). Words from photographer Sophie Kawalek: "Kaitlin and I have worked together over the past year photographing outfit images for her blog. We often work together to style and shoot projects, so when she approached me about shooting her engagement photos with her new fiance Armaan, I was so excited. A style blogger and PR maven over at Blonde Expeditions, Kaitlin and I immediately began looking for a one of a kind location for their shoot - everything started falling into place once we came upon Jardin De Buis, a “destination wedding venue in the heart of New Jersey”. Rustic and sophisticated, the location provided endless inspiration through the antiques scattered around the premises and amazing architecture.

We planned the shoot around the feeling of being in the french countryside, incorporating beautiful vintage pieces and a color palette of weather-worn grey, Provence-inspired lavender, and crisp white. Over the course of a few months we collected pieces that we felt added personal details and stylistic charm to an amazing venue, such as handmade macarons in muted pastels, beautiful organic florals, and a hand-lettered quote in french that read “mon coeur est a toi” (my heart is yours).

We had free reign of the venue the day of the shoot, and used it to our full advantage. We planned for two looks - a more bohemian/casual look, and one a little more formal. With access to fully decorated places like the two stunning greenhouses, the orangerie, and the main house, we created a romantic story of a bohemian bride and her fiancé."
