Bridal Session among Ancient Church Ruins
We were fortunate enough to travel to Greece last year for a quick trip to Boheme Workshops. We love Greece for the mixture of luxurious coastal views and crumbling ancient ruins. This depiction of a Greek bride on her wedding day by Wedding Sparrow favorite, Vasia Photography, paints a romantic story that we felt with every step while on our trip. From Vasia Photography: "The coast of Greece is so often recognized for its white-washed walls, narrow streets and bright blue-domed churches. All of this is true, and authentic. But there’s a much deeper beauty that is rarely explored.
When we knew we were going to be shooting in Athens we wanted to capture its history and its heart; the dry, barren landscape, the small villages hugging the coastline, the stone-built neighborhood churches that were once a focal point of daily life. These are the scenes that tell stories of many generations of Greek life.
When we spoke of a Greek bride on her wedding day, the journey to her local church was central to the experience. Many of these churches may nolonger be in active use, but they are still rich in history and of great significance to the communities of which they are a part.
We hope the contemplative simplicity of these images encourages a bride to think of the memories and experiences that are an important part of her story. There is beauty in history and culture that we have an opportunity to capture and preserve."
