Hosting your First Dinner Party as Newlyweds
We surely romanticize the mere thought of a wedding day: the elaborate decor, the fragrant florals, the moment the bride and all her glory is revealed. We also fawn over those styled shoots, you know, the ones in silk gowns, engulfed in the Mediterranean waves crashing on the coast, hanging off a cliff that give you the perfect inspiration for texture and color palette on your own wedding day.
But what we truly live for is the art of a marriage and view a wedding as the starting point to a new chapter filled with work and worth. Today's feature is all about what happens after the wedding and starting new traditions with your love. There are milestones in a newlywed's journey - some of those being the first outing as husband and wife (or husband and husband or wife and wife), a newlywed's first holiday spent together, a newlywed's first fight, and even one like a newlywed's first dinner party.
Roll up your sleeves, search for a new recipe, and create a handmade dish for your friends together. Grab a few tapered candles, forage a few vines from outside for your tablescape, pull out your new dishware that you got from your registry, and set your table. Throw on a beautiful and classic linen apron. Create a bespoke cocktail, pour some wine, and grab a few water options (still and sparkling). Put on some relaxing tunes, give yourselves enough time, and revel in the moment of hosting your first get-together with your love.
Below are a few of our favorite recipes to get you started...
Sweet Potato Crostinis with Blue Cheese and Honey
Pumpkin Beer & Sharp Cheddar Gnocchi Soup
Fig, Mint, & Goat Cheese Salad
Mushroom and Asparagus White Burrata Cheese Pizza with Balsamic Glaze (this requires dough making but it's easy, promise!)
and a drink for good measure...
From Amy Rae Photography: "As recent French newlyweds, this couple desired to celebrate the start of married life by hosting a dinner party for their closest friends and family. They are artists inspired by the rustic countryside and living a simple life. As they spend most evenings enjoying a glass of wine and curling up to a good book, they also wanted to enjoy a casual evening with their loved ones.
Each dish was deconstructed prior to it’s final preparation to show each ingredient in it’s raw form. Beautiful herbs, vegetables, and fruits came together to make a stunning meal. The guests were greeted with assorted radishes with whipped butter, baked brie with smoked apricot, honeycomb, and bread. Following the horderves was a rustic salad, brown butter poached fish with leeks, tomatoes, and haricot verts, and beef bourguignon with crusty bread. Cocktails featured muddled blackberries and basil garnish. The evening continued with raspberry tarts and blackberry cheesecake for dessert.
As the evening stars began to show, this newlywed couple, along with their dear guests, toasted to a happy life!"

What a great blog post. There is so much emphasis on the day itself I love the idea of a post for what happens next.
This concept is gorgeous. Can’t wait for the day when my husband and I can do this as newlyweds ourselves!
Thank you for sharing this inspiring dinner party shoot! It was a dream to shoot and even more fun enjoying the food after! So many talented artists came together to create something beautiful!
