How to Plan the Perfect Paris Engagement Session

Jun 01, 2020 | Engagements

If you're a regular reader of Wedding Sparrow, you'll know that our brides LOVE Paris and some amazing destination engagement shoots. And showcasing this one today from Fine Art Curation photographer Tiffany Von Photography, has us thinking - How difficult is it to plan an engagement session in Paris?

DO YOUR RESEARCH ON PARIS CITY LOCATIONS

There are so many beautiful places in Paris to be photographed but don't forget, there are lots of tips and tricks on how to plan exactly where you'll want to go for your shoot! Thinking of being photographed near the Eiffel Tower? You need to head to Trocadero where on this raised hillside, you'll have the perfect views of the Tower in the background (and it's much easier to avoid tourists in your shot!). Always head out early for the light (sunrise is worth it!) and the reduced number of tourists in this very busy city.

If you want the more garden based locations, get up early and head to the Tuileries. The Tuileries Garden is a public garden located between the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde in the 1st arrondissement. From here it's super easy to get to the Louvre right next door. Forget the glass pyramid though and head for the stunning ornate doors all around and the archways for beautiful architecture.

Other areas of Paris include the Latin Quarter (great for cafes and book stores), Montmartre (rolling hills and pastel colored cafes), the Seine (perfect for sitting by the river), and the Sacre Coeur (high up with incredible views of Paris below).

Practical things to consider:

  • Any permits you might need - For public grounds you should not need, but private areas you may need to gain permission or pay a fee.
  • If you will be walking to a location near by, a change of shoes is a great idea. Also, hiring a private car if you will be going to numerous locations, which can be incredibly fun. In the session featured, they went to 4 locations with 4 outfit changes and it was truly such a fun experience.
  • Outfit options - Wear what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful! Take time to try things on ahead of trip, so you are not stressed and can enjoy your amazing adventure.
