What’s the difference between a wedding planner and a wedding coordinator?
What's the difference between a wedding planner and a wedding coordinator is a common question for brides and grooms at the start of the wedding planning process. What do they do? Do you need both? We asked destination wedding planner and Fine Art Curation member H & L Lovely Creations to explain what's involved in each service to help you decide.
A wedding planner is more of a decision-maker
A wedding planner is heavily involved in the planning of your wedding and will help make decisions on every element, from design and decor to catering and guest accommodation. They can help you to create a theme or feel for the day, set and manage your budget, book vendors, and generally take care of all the creative and organisational aspects of planning a wedding.
A coordinator works mainly on the wedding day
A wedding coordinator is more of a logistics person and there to make sure the plans you have made are carried out properly. They’ll help fill in any holes in the information, be the point of contact for vendors and ensure everything goes according to plan on your wedding day.
Many planners offer coordination services
Many wedding planners offer on-the-day coordination services so ask about this when you are shopping around for a planner. If you want to take care of the planning yourself, consider a day-of coordinator to manage all the details so you can relax and enjoy your wedding without worry. Many wedding venues often have in-house coordinators too.
