Workshop Vero : Charleston Harbourside Wedding Inspiration

From Kelly Berry Photography: "Vero Charleston was a big turning point in this workshop series. I wanted to amplify all of the wonderful characteristics of the lovely city of Charleston and make it a place where the attendees felt their businesses went to the next level. From the moment the attendees arrived I assured the entire experience was made to do one thing, inspire. By adding elements such as a carriage ride through the city to our welcome dinner, to an editorial with the majestic Lemur Xina, to the most stunning bridal gowns, to the best vendor team you could ask for. Every piece of the four days spent together was built to bring a strong group of creatives together and grow into stronger artists."

From Victoria at Vintage Stylist: "At Shem Creek Park, I spent a lot of time researching the perfect spot to place this tablescape. I wanted the attendees to see the "behind the scenes" of Charleston. Fishing/shrimping is such an important part of Charleston. It's part of their livelihood. I saw the beauty of the shrimp boats in the background. Pelicans landing on the docks. Fisherman coming in to port from a long day out in sea. I loved all of that. Maybe I'm strange for thinking that way but I find beauty in what one might feel isn't.

When Kelly first approached me about styling this workshop, I quickly found Ooh Events to sponsor us. They had these amazing raw very textured oak tables that started my design for Shem Creek. From there I wanted to incorporate more raw textures and that's when I wanted to use different vessels for the florals. Since I knew we were going to be by the ocean for this table, I wanted a more organic feel. I contacted Rob to create these ceramic troughs and have Shean place florals in an unexpected fashion. I wanted wispy grasses like you would see on the beach in the dunes. And then of course, my pop of color in the copper cups. When I was on the dock putting this table together, I could see the fisherman in the background watching us. I imagined them sitting around the table holding up their cups and enjoying friendship around the table and giving each other a "cheers". I just heard your British accent giving them a lovely cheers in my head:) LOL. Visualize yourself having a gathering with family and friends in the english countryside and there is a cool breeze and everyone is laughing and just enjoying all the beauty around them. This is the feeling that I had when I was laying each part of this table together. This is my process of designing everything I do. I first visualize myself in the event or gathering and then I go from there. Simple is best and blessed.

Truthfully, this table was all about friends gathering together and celebrating life and all that comes with it. Laughing and enjoying the all of the beauty around and of course enjoying the catch of the day. I can so imagine how amazing it would be to enjoy dinner with friends, on this dock, at this table, with a beautiful sunset in the background. That was my design process. Oh, and throw a crab leg or two on my plate please. Cheers!

I think of this table as "soft beauty". The colors are soft and the florals are wispy and organic. And then "pop", there's your copper color and metal. Layer upon layer of textures."
