Young Love in Savannah - Workshop

Nov 09, 2016 | Industry

From a recent workshop in Savannah, Georgia, hosted by The Happy Bloom and Tristan Needham, this beautiful couple agreed to model for a trove of photographers and the theme was simple: just be yourselves and be in love. Simple! Instead of the traditional method of a workshop (teacher demonstrating his or her methods), a group of professionals gathered for a joint reason: the love of photography and learning about film.

From The Happy Bloom photographers: "On August 1-2, we hosted our first Better Together Savannah event (www.bettertogethersavannah.com). It’s the anti-workshop for photographers. There is no teacher, no $$$ payment to one person, no pdf of “here’s how I work a wedding”. It’s a group of photographers coming together to work together, share their secrets, and push the limits of what “community over competition” truly means."

From Stylist Tristan Needham: "After designing + styling Jeremy Chou’s most recent workshop, I knew I was hooked. The coming together of creatives at a workshop was the most visceral and honest experience I’ve ever had within this field. When instructors let go of their ego and lay it out on the table for everyone to rise up, it’s truly inspiring.

Now, imagine all of your friends / colleagues / industry professionals in just let it all go as well. Gave you all of their goods. Well, that’s what #bettertogethersavannah is all about. Scared to admit you want to shoot film but can’t - it’s here. Love digital film and want to hang with film photographers and get similar images - it’s here. No clue where to start with styling bridal details, groom’s details, or invitations ? - it’s here. Want to get published but don’t have the time or money to pull the resources - it’s here. Want to take the pretty things on hand and style it your own way - that can happen too. No rules, just learning, growing and having fun.

Fresh, simple, southern, romantic - the keywords I used to describe our elopement shoot. The inspiration for this shoot stems from the upcoming change of season. The breeze you felt earlier today that was two or three degrees cooler. The anticipation of the leaves on the trees changing color. Our couple hails from the Pacific Northwest, fell in love in Savannah, and are back, infusing their special day with smart, simple, and beautifully southern details."
