An Elegant Neutral Grey and Blue Ranch Wedding
We won't lie - when we read that this (gorgeous and amazing) wedding was located in Las Vegas, we totally didn't expect the elegance that we saw. Today's real wedding boasts neutrals, romantic lace, the prettiest lighting, and a surprisingly organic ranch setting. We love the images by Gaby J Photography and the wondrous styling by Scheme Events. We'll let the bride herself take it from here, though...
From the bride: "Our love story begins in 20016 when Seth and I met in High School, through mutual friends and our first date was at the movies. I remember walking up to the theater wondering what he would be like, not knowing he would be my partner in life. We dated all throughout High School (we attended two different schools) attending many baseball games, homecoming dances, prom and eventually graduation. We both ended up attending college at the same university, University of Nevada Las Vegas, home of the Rebels! Growing together in our relationship we knew we wanted to get married, but it was just waiting on the right time. After we both graduated from college we entered the real world, adult life. Seth started working as a Marketing Specialist for Caesar’s Entertainment while I started as an Event Coordinator for Luxor Hotel & Casino. Throughout our entire relationship, time was always key. I was constantly busy participating in school events, holding a position in my sorority and working a full time job. But we knew we had something special and made the time to be together, to see one another and most of all love each other. The time had finally come for our happily ever after on September 19, 2016. After a night out with a girlfriend I returned home to tell my parents about the show, when my dad proceeded to take me out in the backyard to show me what they remodeled. As soon as the door opened the entire backyard was filled with glittering lights hanging from the trees, candles lining a pathway followed with rose petals. I remember looking back at my dad and thinking, it’s time. This was everything I had ever dreamed of. As I walked along the path passing by these moments of our real love story for the past nine years I see Seth at the end of the path waiting for me, dressed to the nines. What made our proposal so special was our entire family standing by. Our families played a huge role in our relationship, as both parents’ are role models of real love and marriage. And that was just the beginning of our forever happily ever after."
"Every girl dreams of her wedding day for her entire life, especially someone who plans events for her career! Living in Las Vegas I knew we had to be strategic when looking at venues, in hopes for good weather, since I had dreamed of having an outdoor ceremony and reception. After calling multiple venues and realizing every bride wanted to get married in October, I started to lose hope. We looked into changing our date to the following year until I magically stumbled upon a location through Instagram (power of social media!).
We immediately called and booked a site tour with WHY Ranch. As we walked the property I knew this was exactly what I was looking for and on the plus side, our date was available! It felt like one of those moments where the sunlight is shining down on us and I swear angels were singing. WHY Ranch had a large lawn area perfect for our reception and a big white barn with beautiful wood detailing. We officially booked our venue! From there all of the planning was a blur, but thankfully we had help from Scheme Events. Tara was truly magical in helping plan our big day and making sure we stayed on schedule. Even event coordinators need help, too!
From the beginning photography was one of the top things on my vendor list. I knew these memories would last a lifetime. As soon as I found Gaby J, I knew she was the one. I loved her vision, her attention to detail and use of film. And boy was I right in booking her! One last dream vendor I knew I needed to work with was Layers of Lovely. And Catherine was a dream. Everything she designed truly brought my vision to life and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect set up. Once you start planning it’s hard to look at other wedding, because it only made me second guess my decisions. I knew I had to stick with my original vision but also include our own personal touch.
I was looking for that “thing”, something that made our wedding unique to us, and our hobby of binge watching Netflix didn’t quite make the cut for décor inspiration. As I was practicing my calligraphy signing my future last name, it clicked. I pulled the word “turn” from my soon to be last name Turner and made fun catch phrases to go along. Starting with the wedding invitations on the directions card, “know which way to turn” to our programs listing the DJ on the turntables, our table assignment board titled “turn the tables” and even our memory photo table labeled “if we could turn back time.” This was our thing, a little goofy but also giving love to the little details.
Our big day couldn’t have been more ideal. Walking down the aisle to “Cant’ Help Falling in Love” by Haley Reinhart toward the white barn draped with taupe fabric surrounding the big wooden doors, laced with eucalyptus garland and adorned with ivory floral. Standing by our side on our big day I had 6 bridesmaids ranging from lifelong best friends, college sorority sisters and cousins. On Seth’s side he had 6 groomsmen including his brothers, cousin, now brother-in-law and one of his groomsmen serving overseas, but he was there in spirit. We decided to stick with a classic and neutral color scheme to showcase our everlasting classic love story using dove gray, ivory and champagne accents.
The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses showing off their unique personalities in our color scheme while the groomsmen stuck with the classic black suit and tie. After the ceremony we entered our reception with non-other than JT and his new hit, “Can’t Stop the Feeling” to show off our impressive dance moves and then swaying into our first dance “Love Me Tender” performed by Norah Jones and Adam Levy. The reception layout was just as dreamy as our lifelong promise, long wooden tables lined with ivory cheesecloth runners puddled on the floor, eucalyptus garland intertwined with gold metal candlesticks on the table. Each place setting set with a thank you card ending with “turn over to test your luck” with a lottery scratcher, what else do you expect in Las Vegas! We served our favorite food, Café Rio which prepared our guests for a night of dancing.
The Turner family is very talented at country line dancing, so of course Seth and his mom danced to “Don’t Blink” by Kenny Chesney, which blew everyone away! My dad and I danced to “The Way You Look Tonight” by Steve Tyrell from my all-time favorite movie, Father of the Bride. Being October 1st pumpkin was officially acceptable, so of course we had to serve a pumpkin cake with a maple buttercream designed by Peridot Sweets. Before the night ended, Seth and I knew we wanted one last dance, but with everyone we loved. Seth invited all of our family and friends to join us for our last dance to “From the Ground Up” by Dan and Shay. This had to be one of my favorite memories from our reception. The best piece of advice I was given before our big day was to step back and appreciate all of the guests there, because it’s very rare that everyone you love will get together like this again. And this was that moment; it really showed us the love that surrounded us (literally!). As we walked toward our sparkler exit, with our Uber driver waiting for us at the end of the path, I turned to my husband and knew at that time this was the greatest moment of our lives."
