Coastal Grandmother inspired wedding in York Habor, Maine
Bride Raleigh grew up visiting York Harbor in Maine with her family and she has dreamed of getting married there ever since she was a little girl. Raleigh and Doug chose the York Harbor Reading Room as the perfect setting for their modern coastal wedding, inspired by the coastal grandmother trend and Nancy Meyers' movie aesthetic.
The couple and their families arrived a week early in Maine and spent time enjoying the local area and celebrating in the days running up to the wedding. A custom newspaper was included the guests' welcome bags, as a nod to Raleigh's father's job as a staff photographer at The New York Times. "Dad had his cameras with him on the day and was able to document big moments from his point of view alongside of me throughout the day," explains Raleigh.
Raleigh and Doug's day was full of memorable moments, including a saxophone player leading everyone (with parasols in hand) from the church to the reception venue, and cutting the cake with the bride’s grandfathers sword from the Navy. "Both my grandpa (95) and grandma (90) were able to be there, which was really special," adds Raleigh.
