Classic black-tie wedding with blush peony bouquet in Charleston

Today's love story started when couple Blair and Will were childhood friends, due to their parents owning adjacent beach houses on the Isle of Palms, South Carolina. Throughout the years, the two celebrated holidays and birthdays together with their families, and Will habitually sent Blair flowers on Valentine’s Day despite their purely platonic relationship status. Ultimately, Covid brought both of them home to the beach (she from Houston, he from Atlanta) during the summer lockdown of 2020, where they spent more and more time together along the ocean tides, and soon a romance blossomed. How sweet!

Blair knew she wanted to get married in her native Charleston, the city so meaningful to the couple. She dressed at the family beach house and held the ceremony at the church where she grew up spending every Sunday morning. Their reception was held at South Carolina Society Hall, a historic building one block from the church, where Blair taught cotillion for years.

Blair and her father are both residential landscape architects and their clean aesthetic was reflected in the reception decor. The bride’s Anne Barge gown was embellished with a subtle flower motif, which beautifully complemented her elegant blush peony bouquet. The couple’s wedding date coincided with what locals call 'wisteria hysteria' - the magical fleeting time of year that the lilac colored wisteria blooms abundantly in downtown Charleston.
