From the bride, Lauren: "Jed and I got engaged after weeks of traveling through Europe. We originally went for his sisters destination wedding in Santorini and took the opportunity to explore Italy and Paris. I’ve always adored the Tuscan country side and when touring vineyards and old castles dreamed of a beautiful countryside wedding someday or possibly a French chateau. When he proposed at the end of our trip in Paris I left with all the wedding inspiration I could imagine. Just a week after our trip we had planned to move to my hometown of Phoenix from Colorado. I love the desert and all it’s beauty but wanted to pull inspiration from the romantics of our European adventure to create a day that would be elegant and timeless and Blackstone Country Club was the perfect place.
Family was important to the both of us and a lot of the planning revolved around them and what they meant to us. We wanted to be able to gather all the people that mean the most to us and make it memorable and enjoyable for them, but also pay tribute to the role they’ve played in who we each are today. It was important for Jed that we be married by his brother and after the ceremony in the Rose garden everyone enjoyed lawn games and drinks on the event lawn before dinner in the courtyard.
I wanted to keep it elegant and simple with light neutral colors of ivory and rosy tones and let the florals speak for themselves. Randi with Carte Blanche brought my floral dreams to life - romantic and soft blooms that fell effortlessly and brought everything to life. I scoured shops to find a selection of vintage brass taper candle holders and pressed glass frames to complement the classic and elegant feel with gold elements. I discovered Jill with Art & Alexander and instantly fell in love with her soft but textured designs and knew that we needed her for our stationery and day of details. She created the most beautiful designs and I love that she tied in custom details such as the crest, the envelope liner and our own wax seal that made everything so special.
Many of the other details just came together naturally in the months leading up - Ettie Kim designed the banner that covered a mural above the fireplace along with some additional banners, we were able to restore my grandfathers 1953 Chevy for our get away car, and instead of favors we treated everyone to a morning after brunch at my moms catered by our favorite, a local waffle food truck.
It turned out to be the most perfect day all thanks to our amazing vendors! It was one of those days where everything is going so perfectly you’re almost afraid to think it, but it allowed for us to soak in all the amazing and joyous moments."
