Classic Southern Wedding for High School Sweethearts
From Christina Pugh: "Presley and Brinson married in North Georgia, with the mountains setting the backdrop for their beautiful outdoor ceremony. The bride’s attention to her details laid the foundation for a modern, classic celebration. Presley donned BHDLN earrings and a hairpiece, and her maids were dressed in sky blue Show Me Your Mumu gowns. Guests enjoyed a mild-weather ceremony followed by a reception on-property, complete with a donut tower and a naked cake. The styling of the day was exquisite and executed by Ashley Irene."
From the bride: "Brinson is my high school sweetheart. We barely claimed the title after he asked me on a date the February before we graduated. When I found out he liked me, I actually cried, worried it would ruin our developed friendship over the years. But wow – thank goodness I gave that charming and witty boy a chance.
We spend the next 5 years wearing down I-20, making the trip from Birmingham, AL to Athens, GA. I was his biggest fan during his college football career, and he would always find a way to surprise me when I least expected it.
We got engaged in La Jolla, California along the most amazing sunset cliffs. The best part was that it was Cinco de Mayo and we got to celebrate with unlimited tacos and margaritas – talk about my dream engagement.
I was not the girl who had been planning my wedding my whole life. A few things we were confident about: we wanted our guests to feel comfortable and relaxed, and more importantly wanted our wedding to be a celebration of God’s gift of marriage.
We started with a venue, falling in love with White Oaks Barn as a hidden gem of North Georgia, allowing our guests to get away from the city life of Atlanta. I chose a simple and authentic color palette, always being draw to cool blues, earthy greens, and pops of blush. My bridesmaids dresses from Show Me Your MuMu really became the center of my inspiration. My groom and his gang all wore gray suits, with the most amazing boutonnieres. Our flowers were beyond what we expected, and my bouquet about brought me to tears on our wedding day.
Food is a big part of our lives, as I love to cook and a lot of our sweetest time spent together is trying new restaurants or surrounding the dinner table with friends. We made sure to have a southern spread of goodness, and to top it off with a tower of doughnuts – his favorite.
One of the greatest moments to us was walking into the reception, holding on tight to one another, being introduced as a couple for the first time as they opened the huge barn doors. It was truly a gift to see all of our people surrounding us in that moment.
Our whole wedding made us realize how incredible loved and supported we are by friends and family. We laughed, cried, and danced our way through the weekend. Past all of the excitement and celebrating, I got to say yes to spend eternity with my best friend."
