Contemporary Hygge Inspired Wedding Style

Jul 08, 2020 | Inspiration

Inspired by the blending of cultural concepts, this editorial from Fine Art Curation members Wiley Events Co and Radian Photography focuses on an intimate wedding celebration for the contemporary couple. Now more than ever before, the simple art of gathering is incredibly powerful. Bringing together the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi and the Danish concept of hygge, this inspiration encourages couples to embrace the beauty found in imperfection.

From Wiley Events Co: "As a direct take on wabi-sabi, the reception table features an unassuming stonewashed linen, handmade plates and cups, and textural paper details. The trendy dried florals, arranged using ikebana, a Japanese style of floral arranging, focus on structure and form. The attire of our bride and groom also showcase both wabi-sabi and hygge, bringing together a sleek wedding gown with a cozy knit sweater and a modern grey suit with a comforting linen shirt. Forgoing tradition, our couple served guests artisanal cheese and charcuterie, and swapped the traditional cake cutting for a celebratory pour over coffee, a nod to Danish coffee culture. We hope this inspiration encourages couples to consider smaller gatherings with intentional design, and to take the concepts of wabi-sabi and hygge to heart when planning their own weddings this year."
