Elegant wedding at 50th Parallel Estate winery in Vancouver
There's nothing quite like the overwhelming task of hosting a wedding to spark decision paralysis, even when you're a professional wedding planner and florist like today's bride Lauren. "Choosing our wedding day design and vision was HARD. Much harder than I had expected," explains Lauren from Sinclair & Co. Design. "I had decision paralysis for a lot of things. Colors, bridesmaid dresses, florals, stationery - but one thing I did not waiver on was my dress. I tried on the custom Remi gown by Lee Petra Grebenau at a trunk show in Toronto and knew immediately it was the one."
With a design brief of romantic and soft, with a modern touch to complement their venue - 50th Parallel Estate in Lake Country - Lauren set about designing a beautiful week of celebrations with the help of Jenny McAlpine Weddings. Every detail was carefully thought out, from the ghost chairs selected to ensure a clear view of the lake for the ceremony, to the seating chart of love notes to their guests.
Fluffy white garden roses and a neutral color palette set the scene for the elegant celebration, with accents of glass and gold to reflect the gorgeous warm light of the Okanagan Valley. The 50 guests were requested to wear soft neutral colors to tie in with the design of the wedding.
"Justin and I really wanted everyone just to fall in love with the Okanagan the way we had, so we planned a few events leading up to the wedding," explains Lauren. "We hosted a wine tour at different wineries in Olive and Osoyoos, a welcome party at a local winery, The Gallery in West Kelowna, our rehearsal dinner at Predator Ridge. We really got to spend so much time with our favourite people all week, enjoying delicious food and wine. It was the best week of our lives."
Lauren shares her expert advice as both a wedding planner and bride: "All of the planning is so worth it when you see all of your favourite people in one room. Try not to get lost in the stress and doing too many things. Include small details that are important to you as a couple and hire an incredible vendor team. We are so grateful for our wedding planner and the rest of our amazing team.
"Having our welcome party two days before the wedding was perfect for our guests to meet and mingle and then we didn’t have to do any introductions on the day of. Everyone just mingled and partied together and it was perfect. I highly recommend a welcome event, it just allows you more time with your guests!"
