Eloping in Paris - Always a Good Idea

Apr 01, 2019 | Weddings

Regular readers know that Paris is my favorite city and I'm lucky enough to have been there many times (and heading there again this May!) but it has always been the most beautiful city to me. The architecture, the museums, the romance. It's no surprise that it is the most eloped to city in the world however and today's gorgeous engagement/elopement session by Claire Morris Photography of Nicole & Christopher just reminds me how stunning this city is and why it's perfect to run away to, just the two of you...

From stylist/planner Jennifer Fox Weddings: "Nicole & Christopher came all the way to Paris from California to celebrate their pre elopement for two in ultimate style. The inspiration behind their pre wedding photo shoot and celebration was to create a classic, iconic, formal, romantic and fashionable memories in a city that they both hold dear."

"They chose Paris for its one of a kind romanticism, historic buildings and overall timeless feel. When it came time to choose their accommodation, Paris’ famed Plaza Athénée was the obvious choice of venue because of its iconic red awnings, spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower and that fact that it exudes luxury!

The save the date was meant to be a more of a fun surprise wedding announcement for their friends and families to discover! They chose signage with fashionable quotes like “Paris is always a good idea”. The day started in the couple’s suite with bridal hair and make up. There is only one word that comes to mind when describing the look… graceful. The bride had not one but two BHLDN gowns and Gianvito Rossi designer heels with the most adorable ivory bows! The groom looked as dapper as could be in his classic Armani tuxedo and silk pocket square.

Together, the couple and the photographer chose to photograph in locations that were iconic to the city: Trocadéro, Jardin des Tuileries, the Louvre until finally cozying up on a terrace of a small café. Once their coffee break was over, everyone headed back to the hotel to capture more of the magic! The bride and groom looked as lovely as ever as they posed on their hotel room balcony with the Eiffel Tower looking as stoic as ever in the background.

Getting back on the topic of surprises, let’s talk cake!! Early on in the planning process, the bride had told me that her husband to be loved apple pie. I shared this piece of info with the cake designer and she came up with a signature apple pie inspired cake flavor: brown-sugar cinnamon cake filled with crunchy crumb, apple purée and caramel and vanilla fillings. The groom was blown away when he took the first bite!! The design of the cake was inspired by the bride’s golden lined floral hair piece. An exact replica!!

An array of blush and pink flowers with cascading greenery adorned the mantle piece in the hotel’s Salon Organza and soft candle light at the base of the fire place just added to the intimate ambiance. The day was capped off with a champagne toast. The perfect ending to a most Parisian celebration!"
