Hannah and Matt’s Intimate Garden Wedding at Serenbe
Today Hannah and Matt's beautiful, intimate, organic, and elegant wedding is gracing the pages of Wedding Sparrow and we're lost in these images by Katie Hyatt of their love. The original idea was an elopement with just each other and a photographer, but their special day evolved to include those most important to them! We were so drawn to the opulent color palette with almost a secret garden feel, nestled in the woods. Mary McLeod arranged such natural, organic blooms for this couple and the result was nothing short of spectacular.
Without further ado, we'll let bride Hannah tell you more about their incredibly gorgeous day...
From the bride, Hannah: “When Matt and I began dreaming up our nuptials we were so sure we wanted to elope. But as we attempted to plan the perfect elopement we couldn't help but feel that something was missing. Somehow the idea of it being just the two of us and a photographer felt less intimate than being surrounded by our family and closest friends.
Our idea of the perfect day was an intimate ceremony with minimal stress. We wanted the emphasis to be on the exchange of our vows. We really wanted to be able to take that moment in without any distractions. With a small guest list we were able to keep the most intimate elements of an elopement while still being able to share our love and joy with some of the most special people in our lives. Besides skipping out on a huge guest list there were some other aspects of the wedding that deviated from the typical wedding format.
We opted out of having a typical reception with a dj and dancing. Instead we wanted it to feel more like a casual gathering of friends. We served dinner family style and played some background music that Matt had put together the night before :) Both our ceremony and dinner sites were outdoors and beyond beautiful, which made choosing decor feel effortless. I wanted the overall feel to be elegant and natural withut feeling too calculated and my florist and coordinator Mary McLeod did just that! She was such a dream and pleasure to work with and I'm not sure the day would have been as perfect without her. Aside from Mary we were so blessed to work with the most amazing vendors.
Every single person we worked with was warm and made us feel at ease, and for that we are forever grateful! Our wedding day could not have been more perfect. Everything unfolded simply and as intended. We were able to celebrate our marriage with loved ones, create and capture special memories, and still find quiet moments to share with each other.
To add to the intimacy of our ceremony it was important to have an officiant who we knew personally. We were blessed to have our dear family friend Bill Perry perform our ceremony. Due to the recent and unexpected loss of our friend we would love to write this in his honor.”
