Intimate blue and white wedding at home on Long Island
There are inevitably moments while planning a wedding when it all feels quite overwhelming and you contemplate paring it all back to a much smaller, simpler but no less special celebration. That's exactly what Caroline and Scott did, ditching their original plans for a big wedding in the Adirondacks, in favor of an intimate blue and white wedding at home on Long Island. Their change of plans made for a beautifully personal celebration with their favorite people, exquisitely captured by New York wedding photographer and Fine Art Curation member, Mary Dougherty.
Over to bride Caroline: "One of the selling points for our Long Island home was that it was on the river, and after regular evenings on the dock we met a friendly family of swans who would visit daily. It was clear this historic home (built in 1820) was the perfect location to host our intimate wedding.
"Our ceremony was in the woods behind the house, our cocktail hour on the dock overlooking the river, and reception in a tent on the property. It was the most memorable day of our lives! Some of our favorite parts of the wedding included choosing my wedding wardrobe (i picked out three dresses from Brock Collection, Agua Bendita and Anna Maier for the weekend); an espresso martini bar, our custom menu from Stone Creek Inn, and our photography. We don’t like posed photos, in fact Scott was not looking forward to pictures at all, but Mary Dougherty somehow made us perfectly at ease and captured us naturally."
