Katie and Sean’s Scenic Fall Tennessee Wedding

Katie and Sean's wedding was as classic and timeless as it comes. Nashville based photographer Austin Gros captured this black tie soiree held at a private venue and one of the elements that jumped out at us initially was their heart stopping ceremony location. The golden hue sweeping over the trees, the rolling hills, and the gentle breeze that added that magical element to the images? What a dream! Katie and Sean pulled out all the stops including mood seating, florals around every corner, and downright lovely and statement-making centerpieces all with the help of planner and florist Big Events. The vintage getaway car at the end of the night was just the icing on the cake... be sure to read below some more details from bride Katie and her sound advice for a perfect wedding day...

From bride Katie:

Q. Where and how did you and your husband meet?

My husband and I actually met at work. I’m originally from Texas but moved to Nashville after college. Sean is from Ohio and had been living here a couple of years before we met. I thought he was so cute but he is a little more soft spoken than I am so it took awhile for us to become friends. For months we just chatted at work and I always had to take the initiative. I was starting to think maybe he just wasn’t interested when he finally got the nerve to ask me out at our office Christmas party and the rest is history!

Q. What made you choose your venue/location?

At first I thought I wanted to get married in Dallas, my hometown, but then we decided on Nashville. This is where we met and we just felt like it would be more special to do it here. I spent a lot of time researching wedding venues in Nashville before I realized that I would never be able to plan a wedding on my own. So it wasn’t until we met with our wedding planner, Big Events, and they suggested the venue. It wasn’t a venue I had even come across when I had done all that research but one of my planners, Molly Sohr, had gotten married there. So after we saw the pictures of her wedding there we were sold! Trinity View Farm is pretty much the definition of rustic elegance, which is exactly what we were going for. We honestly couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect venue.

Q. Tell us about your wedding style. Why did you choose black tie?

My husband didn’t care too much about any of the wedding details but he wanted to wear a tux on his wedding day so that’s how we decided on black tie! As far as my wedding style goes, I just wanted Sean to love my dress so I thought of him when I was picking it out. He also loves it when I wear my hear up, which isn’t often so that’s why I went with the up do.

Q. What what your best part of the day itself and why?

The best part of the day was seeing Sean. I hadn’t wanted to do a first look but am really glad we did. It was a pretty hectic morning getting ready. My dress didn’t fit two days before the wedding so we had to do some last minute alterations and my dad literally picked it up that morning. Then my sister’s zipper on her dress broke five minutes before I had to go down and take pictures so I was a little anxious. But when I saw him nothing else mattered and I was able to relax and enjoy the rest of the day.

Q. What is the wedding dress designer details?

I got my wedding dress from Neiman Marcus in Dallas. My mom got her wedding dress there so it was really special for me to get mine there as well. The designer of the dress was Monique lhuillier. I knew before I got engaged that I wanted my dress to be Monique Ihuilier. It was the first dress my dad saw me in and it was has favorite by far. My veil was also from Neiman’s.

Q. Is there anything you would change about your big day?

Nothing. It was the perfect day. I’ll have to admit i’m a pretty indecisive person so making a million different decisions about the biggest day of your life seemed like a pretty daunting task. I literally couldn’t have gotten through the wedding planning process without our wedding planner, Big Events. They made the day everything I had ever wanted and more. I told them what I wanted (showed them some pictures on Pinterest) and they made my vision come to life.

Q. Do you have any advice to brides planning their wedding now?

I would highly suggest, if it’s in your budget, to hire a planner. Even if it’s just for the day of, it makes the process and especially that day so much more enjoyable.
