Modern and Colorful Hawaii Wedding Inspiration

May 01, 2020 | Inspiration

As a wedding blogger, you probably would imagine that elopements are the dream for us. There's something kind of special about focusing on your big wedding priorities and putting all of your effort on those few things. For me, it was photography, dress, flowers and scenery/venue, which happen to be the things that I love most about this shoot from Fine Art Curation members Amy Mulder Photography and Designs by Hemingway. It proves that a few colorful details done right and gorgeous photography are equally as pretty as a full shindig dressed to the nines.

From Amy Mulder Photography: "I knew I needed to photograph color!! I was craving it so badly! I had been talking with Debbie from Designs by Hemingway, and when she invited me out to Hawaii I had to make it happen! So the search for the perfect dress to show all of the glorious movement on the lava rock of Hawaii began. As soon as I saw Samelle Couture’s line, I knew I had found THE dress! She was so gracious to allow us to use her gowns, and Spina Bride, who hosts Sam’s dresses in NYC, assisted with the process. It was a wonderful day to be able to leave the 12F degree weather at home and go to an incredible island where it was 80F!! Made this midwest girl very happy!

The day of the shoot was absolutely ideal. Reveal Hair and Makeup came to Hemingway Fine Art Studio where they made our already stunning model look like perfection. Debbie had made an incredible floral instillation and flower headpiece. The photos taken in studio were a dream. To have all of the light and textures and colors… made this photographer’s heart very happy. We then made the drive to the ocean and hello wind, my love!! It was perfect for blowing the layers upon layers of the dress. Even though we were obviously in real time, it somehow felt like it was all in slow motion, and I soaked it all in! (and went through a LOT of film!) :)

LouLu Palm hosted our table shoot on the beach. We shoot in full sun - my favorite way! Again, my heart just was so so full seeing all of the colors, textures and amazing creations Debbie came up with! To watch her work was an incredible thing. She makes it look so effortless, but that is because she is such an artist! Signature Maui provided the table and chairs for our beach front wedding reception look. Talk about amazingly sweet people!

And it was all tied together with the beautiful creations from Emma at Inkberry Calligraphy. She created a custom suite for our magical shoot at O’ahu."
