Modern Barn Wedding in Ochre and Blackcurrant
We love when our brides are so talented and in today's wedding from Fine Art Curation member Kayla Barker, bride Jayla created her ochre, caramel blooms for the big day! Jayla and Chris are high school sweethearts who have created beautiful lives and small businesses in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas. Chris and his brother, Eric build beautiful new homes and conduct custom home renovations throughout North Texas. Jayla and her now sister-in-law, Brandi have been boss ladies and creative directors of the luxury floral design company, Blushington Blooms for 3 years now. Chris and Jayla are passionate about family, pursuing their passions, and loving people well. This sweet southern couple dated for five years before Chris popped the question in the stunning light-filled room they were to wed in 16 months later. Jayla recalls the ethereal white wash walls during the two happiest days of her life stating, “Standing there with him in both of those moments, I felt the more joy than I have in my entire life”.
Although The White Sparrow Barn is nothing short of a fairytale wedding venue in itself, the bride and the design team of Blushington Blooms curated the most romantic soiree with the bespoke floral and event design. Before the ceremony, the bride and groom exchanged heart-felt gifts and letters. Chris gifted Jayla a leather binder full of photos and letters they had sent each other while dating long distance in college. He also surprised her with Kendra Scott Kalina Statement Earrings in Rose Gold, and The Mrs. Box she had been dreaming about for months! Jayla gifted Chris custom monogrammed rose gold cufflinks, a hand-made leather toiletry bag with his favorite bible verse embroidered inside, and a hand-made leather passport holder for all of the beautiful places they plan to travel together.
During the ceremony, the couple shared a foot washing ceremony to express their servitude for one another and unite the two in a sentimental way. In Jayla’s words, “This was a truly humbling experience and without a doubt my favorite part of our ceremony.” Chris’ favorite part of the day, aside from marrying his best friend, was getting to drive away in a classic white car. The bride chose a neutral color pallet of creams, golds, and blush tones to enhance the naturally simplistic feel that The White Sparrow Barn has to offer.
She envisioned the organic and formal aesthetics colliding to create an elegant and timeless affair. The whimsical floral columns provided a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony, and later made the perfect frame for the 7-foot gray-washed sweetheart table that was hand-made by the groom in the days leading up to the wedding. Jayla and Chris sat at this custom farm table for the first time on their wedding day and it now serves as their dining room table in their home where they will make memories for years to come. Some of the thoughtfully curated details of the reception included hand-dyed napkins created by Jayla and her sister-in-law and personalized menus adorned with a custom portrait of the White Sparrow Barn. This Texas wedding was full of unique details and artistic elements provided by the bride, groom, and loving family members.
