Cultural traditions are what make weddings so incredibly meaningful. They tie the past to the present, and the traditional Chinese tea ceremony in this wedding of Denise & Roger is the perfect example. Bursting with perfectly manicured garden charm and a castle elegance only found in European affairs, these nuptials photographed by Fine Art Curation member C & C Photography are just perfect. From the couple's Sliding Doors style meeting, to their ballroom reception, every moment below is one worth taking in!

The Chinese Tea ceremony is a pre-wedding celebration that is the most sacred ritual of Chinese nuptials. It serves as the bride's symbolic introduction to the groom's family. While the exact presentation can vary, the ceremony revolves around the serving of tea to both sets of families as a way of showing their acceptance of the marriage. A complete tea set represents harmony and togetherness. Traditionally, the tea set was part of the bride's dowry and became something she'd save for her own daughter's ceremony one day. Sweet tea itself is believed to bring happiness to the couple and to help foster good relations between the bride and the groom's parents. Legend has it that if you place lotus seeds and two red dates in the teapot, children will come into the marriage early on and ensure a lifetime of happiness.

From the bride, Denise: "We’ve met when we were 6 in elementary school and even though we were two competitive kids in the class, we somehow became best friends. Years go by, finally senior year of college, when Roger decided to come to the US while I had the offer to go to Paris, we started dating, all thanks to a film, of which the name is “You’re the apple of my eye”. The story was about a girl and a boy who have been good friends but didn’t have the chance to be together, and one day after years, they were on a call and said to each other that if there is a parallel world, they might be together in that world. After that movie, he texted me and asked me out, saying the sentence I would never forget — I don’t want to be together with you in the other world, I want now. So voila! Our story continues, starting from 1996 and counting..."

From Floral Designer AUBREY FORD DESIGNS: "Denise and Roger were a wonderful couple to work with right from the start! Denise and I combed through so many details together to make sure her vision came to life with the exact flowers she wanted to enjoy on their day. Through that entire process she reminded me over and over that she trusted my abilities as a florist to create something beautiful and that was a breath of fresh air. It allowed for our studio to create exactly what the couple wanted with room for creativity and that is how we decided on our final color palette. The burgundies were rich in color and wonderfully photogenic. After trying to find greenery that would not look washed out in photos at a venue with it’s own big personality, we chose to scrap all of the green and work with the colors of Oheka Castle. The cream toned fillers matched the stone all around us and gave structure to the airy artistic look they wanted. We are so thankful that we had the opportunity to make these designs for such a wonderful couple."
