Outdoor Boudoir Session in Iceland
Part two of our recent Summer jaunt to the land of ice and fire with Brumley & Wells saw the team create an adaptation of a traditional boudoir session inspired by the Japanese theme of Wabi-Sabi. Sheltered in the natural springs, our couple Bryndis and Martin are just integral parts of the landscape ensuring the breathtaking Icelandic scenery takes center stage...
From Brumley & Wells: "We couldn’t take on the theme of Wabi Sabi without paying tribute to the beauty of Japanese calligraphy, especially since my wife, Annie, the creative mind behind The Wells Makery, was designing the concept. Not knowing a thing about how to properly execute Japanese calligraphy and lettering, we focused on the ink and took the creative liberty to transition from the scene of Bryndis painting to a mess of ink and water in the deep, rich hues of the natural spring pool. It was by far the most abstract scene of our shoot, but the theme called for us to include something as ethereal as the rugged setting itself. It’s imperative to have a plan, to be organized, and to move towards a specific goal, but the very nature of creativity is the thing that urges us to adapt, to change plans when we see something move in ways we hadn’t imagined, when we see light glowing in ways we didn’t anticipate. It’s in those moments of spontaneity, when the we break past the limits of our plans and agendas, that we create our best work."
