Outdoor California Elopement

Below is a beautiful description of some of the best parts of an elopement by Wedding Sparrow favorite, stylist Rebekah Carey of A & B Creative. We couldn't agree more with what she says... sometimes an elopement can be the perfect mix of intimacy and romance! For our brides who are considering a eloping with their love, we certainly don't recommend sacrificing any of the beautiful style that comes with more of a traditional wedding, you'll still want those epic wedding shots by your photographer. From stylist A & B Creative: "Elopements are swiftly becoming one of my favorite types of wedding! What I especially love about them is that they don't have to mean just running to a courthouse or city hall, even though I find an undeniable charm in that too. They can also be eloping in an incredibly intimate ceremony in nature somewhere, where you can even see your friends and family afterwards!

This was the inspiration for this shoot I designed as part of Amanda K's "For The Love" One-on-one workshop this fall. This was a couple who wanted the intimacy and privacy of eloping while still having the memories of their friends and families on their special day after the ceremony. Tilden and the regional parks in the Berkeley and Oakland hills allow a couple to "escape" to the wilderness, and feel that isolation and connection with nature, while only being a ten minute drive from some of Berkeley's most famous restaurants, like Chez Panisse where the couple could meet after their private ceremony.

I was completely enamored with a fall palette which reflects the incredible golden light we get in the early evenings at sunset in the Bay Area. This couple gets to have their special day be close to the comforts of home, while being able to revel in the beauty of nature and their beginning journey into their new lives as husband and wife."
