Remote winter wedding on the glaciers of Tibet
Today we're off to a far flung corner of the world to feature what must be our remotest wedding yet! Jun Yang and Yun Hong braved the snow and icy terrain to tie the knot on the glaciers near Lhasa in Tibet. Located on the Tibetan Plateau, Lhasa is one of the highest cities in the world, sitting at an altitude of 3,656 metres (11,990 ft). It's also home to the Potala Palace, a dzong fortress that was the winter palace of the Dalai Lamas from 1649 to 1959.
Jun Yang and Yun Hong celebrated their love in a setting like no other, surrounded by jagged sheer ice cliffs and a biting wind that brought a snow storm as night fell. Their wedding embraced the elements in every way, including a stunning rock-like cake and ethereal tablescape with warm white festoon lights, giving a cosy feel to what must have been a rather cold evening!
"The journey was not easy and as we turned a corner after climbing, the wind shocked us silent," explains Chinese wedding photographer Yipeng Lai, from Yi Studio. "But we didn't really feel the cold. We saw many centuries of the earth around us, and before us a who couple believe love shows a strong form of quantum entanglement."
