Romantic Elopement in Mykonos, Greece
You think you know Greek weddings but then along comes this elopement and redefines everything. Claire & Shamal's clifftop elopement has an almost garden-vibe about it. Foraged botanicals and rolling hills of Mykonos as their backdrop means this has a more romantic and whimsical side of it than the usual bright, bold and modern geometric Greek Island wedding. "When approaching Claire & Shamal’s elopement shoot, we knew we wanted to incorporate traditional Greek elements, along with soft and colorful touches. The elopement took place at an incredible villa on Mykonos Island in Greece. The villa overlooked the sea and the hills of Mykonos.
Designed by Jaclyn Journey, the elopement was inspired by a sense of whimsy and the natural beauty of Greece. The florals were foraged by Jaclyn around the villa property and truly added to the traditional greek elements of the elopement. Shamal was sophisticated in his classic navy suite, while Claire looked like a modern greek goddess in her Alexandra Grecco dress paired with a gold crown. The Bella Belle shoes also added a touch of whimsy modernism, all while blending seamlessly with the overall feel of the elopement.
The stationary, welcome note and vow books designed by High Fancy Paper and Rachel Fisher Calligraphy were inspired by the villa where the elopement took place, along with the natural elements surrounding the villa like the sea and florals. Styled with the paper goods is the elopement welcome bag that included traditional greek goodies, from olive oil soap, a greek scarf, hair pin, pink pistachios, a greek orthodox image and a bottle of olive oil. One of the most special pieces that were included in the elopement was an old Greek Orthodox Bible that is close to 100 years old.
Claire and Shamal exchanged vows by a stone doorway that was outlined in loose florals. After, they shared a toast and charcuterie board, followed by deserts that were from a local bakery near the villa on Mykonos. The day ended with the most beautiful sunset and dancing on the roof top of the villa."
