Saint-Tropez: an idyllic honeymoon destination on the French Riviera

Couples don't hesitate to capture engagements on film and of course, we're all about weddings recorded in exquisite detail here at Wedding Sparrow. But why stop documenting your relationship after the big day? Lan and Jason have a fun tradition of choosing a location to visit together on their anniversary each year, and documenting their adventure on analogue film with European wedding photographer and Fine Art Curation member, Olya Kobruseva.

For their latest trip, the couple chose the stunning village of Saint-Tropez, an idyllic honeymoon destination on the French Riviera. Made famous by Brigitte Bardot, Saint-Tropez remains at the top of the luxury holiday destination list and it's easy to see why. Despite its reputation at the playground of the rich and famous, with super yachts lining the port, Saint-Tropez has managed to retain a quiet charm in its narrow cobbled streets, traditional restaurants shaded by grapevines and the Provencal countryside rising up behind the town, with medieval villages, vineyards and lavender fields sweeping over the rolling hills.

"We started with an early morning walk to skip the bustle Saint-Tropez, so I could capture Lan and Jason enjoying the town in a relaxed way," explains Olya. "After our quiet walk in the sunny port, it was just the right time to cool down in the shade of the iconic Dior des Lices cafe with its elegant garden. Next, we wandered the sunny streets of Saint-Tropez with a basket of freshly cut lavender, tasting seafood in the local market with a glass of champagne, and buying fresh crispy baguettes.

"Finally, no visit to Saint Tropez is complete without paying a visit to La Tarte Tropezienne! Here the town’s most famous dessert was born: a brioche with a delicious cream filling. They say that it was Brigitte Bardot who encouraged the owner of the shop to name the dessert properly, and that’s how the ‘tarte tropezienne’ was born."
