How do we feel about a themed wedding? For us, there's a fine line between tasteful and tacky but when it works, a fun theme can be totally fabulous. Today's gorgeous wedding, captured by Dear Lovers, shows us how to do a themed wedding in a chic, light-hearted and tasteful way that we know you're going to love. The wedding planning and design team at Amorology have woven so many creative clever details into Gwynne and Maxx's special day, inspired by their love for true crime podcasts, Sherlock Holmes and their beloved dogs.

Classic romance with touches of modern whimsy blended with earthy elements of wood, plaid, leather and houndstooth, and a natural color palette of mustard, gold, and rose created the most stylish celebration at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe in California. The couples paid homage to their dear late mothers, displayed their photos on beautifully decorated honory chairs, and favors of hot fudge sauce made to Gwynne's secret family recipe.

The reception took place underneath a white sailcloth tent with strung market lighting and a gorgeous floral installation by Nectar And Bloom with woven jute and glass grid pendants illuminating the space. Guests were seated at white modern farm tables and carved wood rounds with a mix of white cane back chairs and natural bentwood chairs.

The tabletop design was inspired by a warm fall color palette with nods to the detective theme including with calligraphed magnifying glasses and pipes at the head table, houndstooth napkins, and hints of mustard and blush throughout. Scents of warm buttery chocolate filled the air with the dessert table brimming with chocolate cakes by Susie's Cakes and a specialty houndstooth cake by Hey There Cupcake.
