The Amalfi Coast is Definitely The Most Romantic Place to Get Married

Feb 17, 2020 | Inspiration

We've all heard of the beautiful rolling hills of Tuscany, and of course, the perfection that is Lake Como... but we our favorite is the magical Amalfi Coast. The town of Ravello will enchant you with its steep landscape, pastel buildings and a charming masseria at every turn. The best part about it? The unabashed views. It's no wonder celebrities and couple's alike decide to tie the knot in this undeniably romantic region every year. And then we got married is the expert planner in the Amalfi region and produced an editorial shoot that represents the true beauty of the Amalfi Coast, featuring beautiful floral arrangements by Maison Petali. Keep scrolling for all the pretty captured by Nancy Twickler Photography to fall instantly in love with your new favorite Italian wedding destination!

From wedding planners, And then we got married: "Just as soon as we finished our 2019 wedding season, we packed our cases and headed over to the iconic Amalfi Coast for an exquisite fine art shoot with some of our favorite wedding industry professionals.

Teaming up with our long-time faves, Nancy Twickler Photography + Anna Jazelle Beauty, as well as new kids on the block, MAISON PETALI., we had an absolute ball working in two of the most incredible villas on the Amalfi Coast: Villa Eva in Ravello and Villa Astor in Sorrento. The team arrived in Naples a few days before the shoot to finalize preparations. Always keen to shop small and local, we worked with a hand-picked selection of talented artisans based across the Bay of Naples.

The key theme behind this shoot is layers. From the dress to the florals, we focused on intricate details, showing how the different elements can be perfectly intertwined with each other. We therefore wanted the dress to be impressive without being OTT, so had already done our research and just hours after landing in the city we met with the fabulous Pina, Founder and Designer at Dive e Dame, an haute couture bridal boutique situated opposite the Castel Nuovo in Central Naples.

Pina lovingly showed us her yet-to-be-released 2020 collection and, with great difficulty, we selected ‘our’ dress with its simple but beautifully detailed slimline gown and wow-factor optional train (which we added for shooting at Villa Astor to add that extra touch of glam, which was so fitting for such an impressive location). Meanwhile, MAISON PETALI. worked their magic with the florals. The theme we were working to unusually leant itself to a ‘more-is-more’ approach as they selected a few stems each from a wide range of varieties in neutral colors that worked together perfectly to create the loose, textured wildflower look we were going for. The pampas grass was a bonus, and really finished off the bouquet, crafting a luxurious design for brides who love to push the boundaries.

Stylist, Guillaume Bernard, sourced the gorgeous handmade grainy paper we used for the stationery pieces from an artisanal supplier in nearby Minori and, sheets in hand, he returned to Ravello to handcraft the gorgeous wax seal and silk ribbon designs, as well as popping into La Bottega delle Arti to select the charming mismatched handmade linen bee napkins for the Villa Eva tablescape design.

Finally, the day was upon us. Gale Force winds and literally thousands of steep + uneven stone steps, not to mention Ravello’s strict no-car policy, got the morning off to a rather more physical start than planned, but perseverance rewarded us and by lunchtime the sun was out in force. Starting at Villa Eva, we worked alongside MAISON PETALI. and Guillaume Bernard to set up the tables, whilst Anna Jazelle Beauty worked her magic on our gorgeous models, Federica and Luciano, and Nancy Twickler Photography started on the portraits.

Next up we travelled in convoy on the one and a half hour winding drive over the mountains to Sorrento. As we entered through the front gates of Villa Astor we found ourselves in a paradise. Soothed by the villa’s botanical garden and cliffside location, we got straight to work and finished our project in this tranquil setting on the water’s edge."
