Italian destination wedding in Lake Como with lilac flowers
We love hearing the personal stories that make a wedding totally unique to you. At Serena and Nik's stunning destination wedding in Lake Como, the groom's dad read a poem written on a wedding ceremony program from his own wedding exactly 47 years ago. How wonderful to have such a special keepsake!
Serena and Nik planned their spectacular two-day event in the luxurious Italian resort, starting with a 'Crazy Rich Asians' inspired rehearsal dinner at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo followed by a stunning flower-filled wedding at Villa Balbiano. The wedding had a lilac theme (the bride's favourite color) featuring the groom’s favorite flower, gypsophila. Floral designers Il Profumo dei Fiori created a sumptuous ceremony installation, featuring hydrangea, roses and gypsophila in a dreamy palette of ivory, blush, lilac and lime green.
The reception set up in the villa gardens took on a magical fairytale feel, with outdoor chandeliers and a circular floral installation that framed the happy couple. A lavish centrepiece full of the bride's favourite lilac flowers ran down the middle of a banquet style table, exquisitely laid with cut glassware and pretty lace plates. "At the dinner, my father surprised and impressed us all by singing an Italian song - Santa Lucia - in Chinese, and I couldn't resist singing along with him," said bride Serena. "It's such a special memory of a simply wonderful day."
